Undergraduate Journalism students who are going to be spending a co-op term or internship at a community newspaper are encouraged to apply.

Up to $2,000 in funding will be granted to selected students to help cover the cost of transportation, meals and rent during their placement period.

Nominate newspaper professionals with 25 years experience (or more)

John Foust: Sailing Close to the Wind

By John Foust
Raleigh, NC

If you are familiar with sailing, you know that you can't sail into the wind. You can sail at angles to the wind, and you can sail with the wind behind you, but it's physically impossible to sail directly into the wind. If you try to sail too close to the wind, the boat will go 'into irons'. Your forward progress will stop, the sails will flap loudly, and the boat may even move backwards.

2011 Ontario Junior Citizen of the Year Awards

What a great year for response this has been!  There are 176 outstanding individuals across Ontario who were nominated for the 2011 Ontario Junior Citizen Awards.

Thank you so much to all of our members who published editorials and ads seeking nominations within communities across the province.

OCNA will be contacting local editors of the final recipients on January 24 so they have the opportunity to make the announcement to their local recipient first.
