New Tanner editor receives Gold Quill

On June 4, Hartley Coles, former editor of the Georgetown/Acton Independent Free Press, was presented with the highly revered Gold Quill Award.
Coles began his career in the newspaper industry as a printer for the Acton Free Press in 1943, moving through the ranks of various technical positions to writing for local sports events, and as editor of both the Free Press and the Georgetown Independent. In 1991 he retired as editor, but his passion and enthusiasm for the industry drove him to work with his local paper, The New Acton Tanner, only a few years later. The contributions he continues to make as editor have sent him well beyond the 50 years of service required of the Award.
Congratulations Hartley!
