Trends in the global newsroom

A recent article in The Publisher written by Janelle Jordan discusses the evolving trends in “the global newsroom”.

According to research conducted by Bertrand Pecquerie, director of the World Editors Forum, there are a number of similarities between North American newspapers and their European counterparts. Both are searching for new ways to increase audience engagement, outsourcing editorial content, and aggregating news items created for different media. Major differences include design of the newsroom, page layout, and a general attitude about the future of the newspaper industry (Pecquerie’s study noted that North Americans were more pessimistic).
