U.S. First Amendment campaign to launch July 1
Fri, 05/28/2010 - 09:26
Thursday, July 1 marks the launch of 1 for All, an initiative that is hoped to promote better understanding and support for First Amendment freedoms – the freedom of speech, press and religion, and the right to petition and assemble – in the United States. 1 for All is nonpartisan, and while it is not seeking funding for the campaign, it hopes that state press associations will help give it exposure by publishing promotional advertisements in newspapers across the country.
A number of organizations have already agreed to support the cause, including the American Society for News Editors, the First Amendment Center, and the Newseum in Washington, D.C. All supporters are listed on the campaign website (http://1forall.us/friends/).
