Two days after closing a $1.1 billion sale with Canwest to acquire its print and online assets (11 major daily and 26 community newspapers, including some of Canada’s largest dailies), recently formed Postmedia Network has announced its executive team.
The company will be led by CEO Paul Godfrey; Kevin Bent, vice-president for Western Canada; former National Post publisher Gordon Fisher, now president of the Post and Postmedia’s executive vice-president for Eastern Canada; Malcom Kirk, executive vice-president of digital media; and former Canwest execs Kirk Allen and Doug Lamb who will retain the roles they held with Canwest – senior vice-president advertising sales and CFO, respectively.
Postmedia is backed by Golden Tree Asset Management, a U.S private equity firm, and several other debt-holders that are owed approximately $440 million by Canwest.
