OCNA Webinar: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly of Headline Writing
Hosted by OCNA: Wed, Sept. 8 12pm – 1pm EST
Readers determine if they will read articles based on headlines and/or decks; it’s your job to convey the right information and strike the right tone, keeping in mind the nature of the story and the reader you are trying to attract.
When it comes to writing headlines and decks, 'The Good, The Bad, The Ugly' will reveal the first rule of headline writing - and it might surprise you. Other topics include: the purpose of headlines, why you should read before you write, where to "find" headlines, how to use appropriate tone, and various examples of the good, the bad, and the ugly of headline writing.
Presenter: Paul Lima has been a freelance writer and writing instructor for over 20 years. He speaks annually at Wordstock, the professional development day for journalist and freelance writers sponsored by the Ryerson Journalist Alumni Association, and conducts writing seminars for a variety of writers' organizations.
