Congratulations to all the finalists in each category of the BNC Awards! First, second and third place winners will be announced during the BNC Awards Gala on Friday, April 7 at the Toronto Airport Marriott Hotel.

On Monday, March 20, the Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, hosted the 36th annual Ontario Junior Citizen Awards ceremony in her Suite at Queen’s Park. Thirteen outstanding youth were recognized.

RECIPIENT ANNOUNCED! Rick Shaver, General Manager, TC Media Cornwall has been chosen as the recipient of the 2016 IBC Community Award in Memory of Mary Knowles. He will be invited to the BNC Awards Gala on Friday, April 7 to received the award.

Join the OCNA for its annual convention on Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Toronto Airport Marriott Hotel. The one-day event provides members the opportunity to learn from a variety of educational sessions and share idea with friends from the industry.

Quill Awards are presented by the Canadian Community Newspapers Association to community newspaper owners and employees for long time service to the industry.

OCNA Independent Publishers gathered at the Kempenfelt Conference Centre in Innisfil during a two-day retreat on November 5-6. Attendees enjoyed social and networking opportunities, informative sessions, food and fun!

In an effort to facilitate the endurance and continued growth of the Ontario community newspaper industry, this program provides much-needed funding to undergraduate Journalism students entering into a co-op or internship at a community newspaper.

OCNA publishers, editors and board members descended on Queen’s Park on September 21 to meet with MPPs and Premier Kathleen Wynne. Politicians of all stripes were supportive or sympathetic to issues currently affecting the industry.
